FAQ - Häufig gestellte Fragen
How does the Smart Things s26 C supply tablets with power and data via PoE+?
The smart things s26 C Power+Data PoE splitter converts a PoE+ signal from an IEEE 802.3at-compatible switch or injector into USB-C power and Ethernet data. With an output power of 25 watts, the splitter provides sufficient energy to reliably charge tablets such as the Apple iPad, Microsoft Surface Go or Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 while simultaneously connecting them to the network. Power and data are transmitted over a single Ethernet cable over distances of up to 100 meters. This makes the s26 C the ideal solution for professional installations in offices, conference rooms, hotels and retail environments where tablets are used as information or control terminals, for POS stations or as appointment schedulers. Data transfer is performed at up to 10/100 Mbit/s via the USB 2.0 standard, while the input supports gigabit speeds. The compact dimensions of 105 x 50 x 25 mm allow discreet integration into existing installations. The adapter supports USB Power Delivery with various voltage levels from 5V to 20V and automatically adjusts the power supply to the connected device.
Which devices are compatible with the PoE USB-C splitter?
The smart things s26 C is specifically designed for devices with a USB-C connector. These include all Apple iPads with a USB-C port from the third generation of the iPad Pro onwards as well as the Microsoft Surface Go, Google Pixel smartphones, Lenovo M10 Plus (Gen 3) and selected Samsung Galaxy Tab models such as the Tab Active 2. The included right-angle bidirectional USB-C cable enables a flexible connection between the splitter and the end device. The adapter is also fully compatible with smart things' sDock Fix series, making it a perfect complement to the manufacturer's tablet wall mounts. In addition, the s26 C can be used with Apple devices that have a Lightning connector via optionally available Lightning cables. For videoconference systems such as Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Webex or Skype, the s26 C offers a stable wired connection that provides higher network security compared to Wi‑Fi. The wired data connection via Fast Ethernet ensures that a constant connection quality is maintained even under high network load.
What should be considered when installing the PoE splitter?
Operation of the smart things s26 C requires an IEEE 802.3at PoE+ compatible switch or injector. The splitter itself is designed as a plug-and-play solution and can be ordered online and put into operation without additional configuration. The input voltage is between 48 and 56 volts, which is delivered via the Ethernet cable. Two LED indicators indicate the operating status: a green LED signals the PoE connection, a yellow LED shows the USB-C output. The plastic housing weighs only 80 grams including cable and packaging and can easily be hidden behind a wall mount or furniture. The operating temperature ranges from minus 10 to plus 60 degrees Celsius, so the splitter also operates reliably in demanding environments. With CE, FCC and RoHS certifications, the s26 C meets all relevant safety and environmental standards. The s26 C is not compatible with the classic sDock series, but exclusively with the sDock Fix series. With Samsung tablets, compatibility may vary depending on the model, so checking the specific tablet model beforehand is recommended.
