Three-phase power distribution with remote-controlled switching in the data center
The Legrand Raritan iX Rack-PDU (PX4-5917-E7V2) is a powerful, vertically mountable 0U power distribution unit for professional data center use. With 24 lockable outlets (12x HDOT C13 and 12x Combo C13/C19) and a capacity of 22.2 kVA, it provides reliable power distribution for demanding server and network infrastructures. The three-phase PDU is fed via an IEC 60309 230/400V 32A input (3P+N+PE) and—thanks to Remote Outlet Switching—allows targeted switching on and off of individual outlets over the network. Billing-grade energy metering class 0.5 delivers precise consumption data for voltage, current, active power, apparent power, energy consumption and power factor. Metering is performed per input line, per circuit breaker and per individual outlet. In addition, the PDU monitors power quality with parameters such as total harmonic distortion, voltage sags, voltage swells, neutral conductor current, inrush current and crest factor.
Intelligent three-phase rack PDU for professional infrastructure management
The hot-swappable controller with integrated color display allows replacement during operation without interruption of power. The LCD display shows voltage, current and active power per line, per circuit breaker and per outlet and automatically adjusts orientation. Remote management is available via HTTP(S), SSH, Telnet, SNMP v2/v3, JSON-RPC API, MODBUS-TCP and Redfish API. Up to 8 PDUs can be linked via the PDU-Link function, with the primary PDU centrally managing all power data of the connected units. In cascading mode up to 32 PDUs can be operated via one Ethernet port or 16 PDUs via USB. The redundant dual Ethernet connection (10/100/1000 Base-T) with optional Wi‑Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) ensures a highly available network connection. The PDU supports extensive environmental sensing for temperature, humidity, airflow, differential pressure, dust, water leak, motion, vibration and contact closure.

FAQ - Häufig gestellte Fragen
What does a three-phase 0U rack PDU with Remote Outlet Switching provide in the data center?
A three-phase 0U rack PDU such as the Legrand Raritan iX (PX4-5917-E7V2) offers with its 22.2 kVA capacity significantly more power headroom than single-phase models and is therefore suitable for high-density server environments with high power consumption. The ability to remotely turn each individual outlet on and off over the network allows targeted rebooting of servers and network devices without a technician having to be physically on site. Billing-grade energy metering (class 0.5) enables precise measurement of power consumption per outlet, per circuit breaker and per input feed. These granular consumption data are indispensable for usage-based billing in colocation data centers as well as for capacity planning and efficiency optimization in enterprise-owned server rooms. Monitoring of power quality with parameters such as harmonic distortion, voltage sags and crest factor enables early detection of problems in the power supply before they lead to equipment failures.
How does PDU-Linking and cascading improve infrastructure management?
The PDU-Link feature allows chaining of up to 8 PDUs, with a primary PDU centrally collecting the power data of all connected units and making it accessible via a common user interface. In the event of a power failure of the primary PDU, the first expansion PDU takes over redundant power and thus ensures availability. In cascade mode, up to 32 PDUs can be linked via a single Ethernet port or 16 PDUs via USB. Port forwarding can be used to manage multiple PDUs under a single IP address, which significantly reduces the need for network ports and IP addresses. The redundant dual-Ethernet connection with optional Wi-Fi provides a highly available network connection, while extensive remote management via protocols such as SNMP v3, JSON-RPC API and Redfish API enables seamless integration into existing DCIM and monitoring systems.
Why is three-phase power advantageous in the data center?
Three-phase PDUs distribute the load evenly across three phases, enabling a more efficient use of the available connection power. Compared to single-phase models, three-phase feeding reduces the current per conductor for the same total power, resulting in lower line losses and better utilization of the infrastructure. The six integrated circuit breakers reliably protect connected equipment from overload. The hot-swappable controller ensures that firmware updates and hardware replacement can be performed without interrupting power. The extensive environmental sensing for temperature, humidity, airflow, differential pressure, water leaks and motion detection, together with precise energy metering and intelligent switching, forms a comprehensive monitoring system for modern data centers.
